What is quad
Quadad means Quadrilateral Security Dialogue which is a multilateral agreement between Japan, Australia, India and the US. Basically it is working at the Indo-Pacific level so that trade in sea routes can be made easier.
Why was the quad created?
In 2007, China started increasing its dominance in the Asia-Pacific Ocean. He was threatening the neighboring countries and was continuously increasing the military base at sea. In view of this, the then Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, proposed an organization that could include powerful countries coming into this maritime zone. Eventually the organization was formed and the first meeting was held in 2019. However, in 2017 it was once restructured. Due to Corona, the meeting was interrupted in the year 2020 and on 12 March 2021 it was conceived in a virtual manner.
Who attended the conference
Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Scott Marison, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihida Soga.
Quad China problem
The Quad Group is referred to by China as NATO of South Asia. China alleges that the group is formed to surround it, which is a four-pronged military organization. This will pose a challenge to the stability of the region.
The quad may not be a military treaty, but Russia is worried because it appears to be from some military treaty. Russia feels that India’s involvement in this group is unethical and in the future, it may prove to be a threat to Quad Russia in the Indian Territory. The big reason behind this is also the fierce opposition of America and Russia.
